Boy Scouts : BSA Rock Climbing Merit Badge Program
Scouts can earn all their requirements for their Climbing Merit Badge – with the exception of the First Aid Skills – when they challenge themselves with the Vertical Adventure Climbing Merit Badge Program!
Our program starts with climbing and rappelling on real rock cliffs in beautiful Devil’s Lake Park, Wisconsin. It’s a fun and exciting way to challenge Scouts and allow them the chance to advance themselves in Scouting.
Before the actual day, Scouts will take part in a “ground” school where they will learn the basic skills needed to take part in climbing. This lesson will teach Scouts the basics of what’s involved in climbing before they get started. The climbing day itself focuses on the Scout’s ability to complete their climbs, rappels and belays for their Merit Badge. All aspects of maintaining a safe climbing experience are reinforced throughout the day’s adventure. Climbing and Rating Systems are also discussed.
Girl Scouts – Individual Troop, Council or Camp Trips
Girl Scouts of all ages and capabilities are welcome to take part and experience the “thrill” and adventure of climbing outdoors on real rock cliffs! All participants gain confidence in themselves through the physical, mental and emotional challenges of climbing.
Physical activity and personal goal setting helps each scout develop her own positive self-image. Trusting others, overcoming obstacles and realizing their own “hidden” potential in a safe and supportive environment are additional benefits that last a life-time!
